I have to say a big thank you to all the lovely folks who are following my blog now, there are 45 of you and I think that's just awesome!!
Also a big, huge thank you to those who are consistently commenting and sending me lovely compliments on my work! I do so appreciate it and you are so good for my soul! I find that making these little guys and girls is a very isolating pass time. I normally create in the evenings but find I am making time during the day as well now. But this just means that I am sitting in my lounge on my own working away and while I do love it I don't have anyone to share my work with. Sometimes my Mum will pop over, but she makes no attempt to sugar coat if she doesn't like something, she just says "Oh no, that's not to my taste at all!" and I'm standing there all excited to show her so suddenly the wind is knocked out of me and my smile falls off! lol
Hubby is probably typical of husbands who have seen a mountain of what they consider to be the same old thing. He will say it's nice but doesn't really 'get' it. Hardly bother to show him any these days!
And I have one friend who I see once a week, so I can show them to her, she can be a bit like Mum sometimes, but at least she's honest and a little more tactful than dear old Mum! :o)
So on that note, I know hope you will all be jolly wonderful about my newest addition. (I think she's pretty darn perfect actually) So here she is and if anyone has an idea for a lovely name that will suit her please send me a comment as I am finding myself at a bit of a loss with her!
Needle Felted from Ashfords new merino/silk colour, Poppyseed
A lovely lady I found at a show makes the little lace collars! Isn't it gorgeous? She does lots of other things too so keep an eye out for bonnets and hats!
I stitched her nose from a mix of rusty red and sparkly pink threads!
I wanted to try the big toe pads I did on a previous bear! They turned out great!!
She's just a little handful! :o)

Liza, I am in the same predicament as you. :) Lucky we only live a short distance from one another.
I was thinking it would be cool if we could start a felting group or something to that effect. The group could work together or just to meet and compare work, share techniques and tips, etc. I have no idea where we could do this but I think it could be fun and take a bit out of the isolation of our craft.
Your work is so lovely and I love that you share your friends with us.
The first name which came to my mind when seeing her was "Tangerine". I don't know if it would do...
I do not comment very often but I always appreciate your work and I am quite busy too, between home, children, job and my own creations of course!
Have a nice week!
Liza.. this wee girl is just lovely! As for names, every time I see her pic (on Facebook and now here), I keep thinking of Pecan as a name... just because of her colours. Love the addition of the collar too. I came across someone who made similar items at the doll and bear show here the other weekend, and was very tempted to get some.. but ended up spending all my money on fur, eyes, and other bits n pieces for making bears. I'd love to learn how to make things like the collar though. So dainty and pretty!
Oh.. and I know what you mean about the reactions from your mum and husband... mine are the same with my photography, and with some of my creations... so I've stopped sharing them with both of them. :-(
But at least you know your followers will understand that wound up excited feeling with a new creation! ;-)
Irma and Liza.. it would be so great if you ladies did start up a group up there, especially as we're hoping to move up to Hamilton early next year. Maybe then I could join in too??
Adorable!
She looks like a Cinnamon to me :)
Hey there Liza! I keep thinking of spices when I see her - like Pepper or Paprika. She is lovely!
I wish we were closer! My hubby is usually fairly tactful, but he will often ask me "What is it?" Ummm... I thought it was obviously a "insert whatever it is here." So I get that same drooping sail feeling too! Anytime you need a good word, just post on here or FB and I will come to your aid asap! :)
I'm really lucky in the husband department.... mine is my biggest supporter and suggestion maker....
but...I have nobody to play with.... I used to belong to a local doll club, but it got all strange so, I just quit....
I don't do much bear and doll making in the summer... as I'm trying to learn to golf.... but... when the cold weather hits...I'm in the house and fiddling with wools and mohairs....
I just thought Gidget when I saw the new little one....
Thanks sooooooo much folks! Such lovely posts from you all and I do so appreciate all your kind words! Awesome name ideas too so they are all in the hat and I will pick one very soon! :o)
She is so sweet! She sort of reminds me of a by-gone era with that tiny little lace collar. I think she belongs in a story like "Lady and the Tramp" with those beautiful Victorian homes and manicured lawns. The surname of the family was "Darling", I think that is a perfect name for her, after all she is dalring herself! Great work and congratulations on so many followers!
